On this page you will find some useful information about Marble.

Background on Marble

Marble is a metamorphic rock. This means that heat and pressure deep in the earth has changed one type of rock (limestone) into a new, stronger stone - marble.

Marble is a very versatile, beautiful stone. Whilst not ideally suited to worktops, marble can be used in many other ways throughout a home/workspace. Natural processes give marble unique patterns and markings that cannot be found in any other stone types.

Caring for your Marble

Marble may be stone, but it is porous and stains more easily than granite. Wipe off anything spilled on marble immediately, just as you would from a wood surface. Use coasters under beverage glasses to avoid moisture rings.

Occasionally wash marble surfaces with lukewarm water and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Wiping surface with a damp chamois will not leave streaks. Once or twice a year, depending on soil, wash with a mild detergent solution (hand dish-washing detergent and warm water), rinse and wipe dry.
