On this page we provide some useful information about Travertine.

What is Travertine?

Falling somewhere between marble and limestone for hardness and porosity, travertine is usually characterised by a pitted surface which can be filled or left open.

Iron compounds found in travertine can give this stone a beautiful striated look, with colours ranging from pale cream to walnut brown.

Caring for Travertine

Travertine has very similar properties to limestone, therefore please visit our "Caring for Limestone" page to view suitable cleaning and maintenance techniques.
